Popularize stone knowledge and interpret noble value. Topteck Stone Group focuses on providing high-quality environmental protection stone solutions for high-end hotels and mansions, creating classics and inheriting treasures. In order to better exchange and share the beauty of stone, Topteck WeChat official account regularly launches a series of articles called "Stone Knowledge Forum" to create a new era of stone with everyone. The content of the article is mainly from the network and is selected and edited by Topteck. The theoretical views and any facts involved are for reference only.

In the decoration materials, ceramic tile, bathroom, floor, doors and windows, furniture, paint, paint, cloth, cabinets, etc., are all related to chemical products. No matter how perfect and moving the description is during the promotion, the user will always feel a little uneasy. In fact, if you think about it seriously, the building materials that strictly pursue green and environmental protection should leave only natural stone materials, and there are enough scientific basis and application facts for people to believe that stone materials are harmless.

As building decoration materials, natural stone has a low impact on the environment in mining, processing and other aspects. It is an energy-saving, environment-friendly, low-carbon and green product. The stone powder, stone slag and other wastes generated during the stone mining process are used as concrete, high-strength bricks, artificial stone fillers, light stone powder wall materials, paving stones, etc., basically realizing the recycling of wastes.

Natural nobility, unique design and color, and unique value are the "high-end, grand, and high-grade" characteristics of natural marble, so it has become a must for high-end hotels and landmark buildings. In the past, many users were deterred from marble mainly because they were worried about its security and that it could not pass the test. However, this concern is totally unnecessary, because the regulations of marble related standards for radioactive detection have already changed.

As early as 2013, the China Stone Association released the latest partial revision announcement of the national standard Code for Indoor Environmental Pollution Control of Civil Building Engineering (GB50325-2010) to hundreds of stone enterprises. The newly revised national standard made it clear that marble does not need to issue a radioactive test report.

In addition to the newly revised Code for Indoor Environmental Pollution Control of Civil Building Engineering (GB50325-2010), which specifies that marble does not need to issue a radioactive detection report, in terms of product standards, there is no requirement to detect the specific activity of radionuclides in the technical requirements of the marble product industry standard Natural Marble Block (JC/T202-2011) and Natural Marble Building Slabs (GB/T 19766-2005); In terms of testing standards, the Code for Acceptance of Building Decoration Engineering Quality (GB50210-2018) does not require testing marble radioactivity.

The national authoritative department tested the radioactivity in natural marble, and the specific activity of the nuclides Rad-226, Thorium-232, and Potassium - 40 was far lower than Class A in the standard. Therefore, the relevant standards issued by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development also made it clear that there was no need to conduct radioactive testing on natural marble, and no need to issue a radioactive testing report. At the same time, the former General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (whose responsibilities have been assigned to the General Administration of Customs) also does not require radioactive inspection of entry-exit natural marble.

After consulting the Code for Indoor Environmental Pollution Control of Civil Building Engineering (GB50325-2010), it was found that the clause 5.2.1 before the revision stipulated that the inorganic non-metallic building materials and decoration materials used in civil building projects must have a radioactive index test report, and should comply with the design requirements and the provisions of this code. Among them, decoration materials belong to a broad category, including marble products. The Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development issued a notice of partial revision of the Code for the Control of Indoor Environmental Pollution in Civil Building Engineering (GB50325-2010), which revised Article 5.2.1 to "In civil building engineering, the inorganic non-metallic materials used in the main body of the building and the granite, porcelain bricks, phosphogypsum products used in building decoration must have a radioactive index test report, and should comply with the provisions of Section 4.3 of this Code".

It is found that the term "decoration materials" is limited to "granite, porcelain tiles, phosphogypsum products, etc." by comparing the terms before and after the standard. The marble originally included is no longer required to issue a radioactive index test report. In the old national standard Code for Indoor Environmental Pollution Control of Civil Building Engineering (GB50325-2001), marble and granite were uniformly classified as stones and required to detect the radioactivity of marble.

Therefore, as early as 2013, the China Stone Association, the National Stone Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, and the National Stone Standardization Technical Committee jointly issued the Notice on No Radioactive Hazards of Marble Products to Human Beings. The announcement explained that marble belongs to sedimentary rock and is mainly composed of carbonate minerals. According to the analysis of the geological process of the formation of natural marble, the formation of natural marble is not directly related to radioactive substances and has no radioactive hazard to human body.

The circular also stated that the original standard had inconsistent provisions on radioactivity, which was not conducive to project acceptance. With the active efforts of the association and radioactive experts, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Rural Development adopted the expert opinions, organized the revision of the relevant content of material radioactivity (5.2.1) in the Code for Control of Indoor Environmental Pollution of Civil Building Engineering (GB50325-2010), and made it clear that no radioactive test report is required for marble.
