White marble is pure white marble, which is a kind of limestone shape, containing glittering crystals, crystal white. As for the origin of the name of white marble, people have different opinions, mainly including the following four points:
First, since ancient China, this kind of stone has been used to make stone steps and guardrails of palaces, which have been chanted by all generations of poets. The so-called "jade railings" are as gorgeous as jade, so they are called white marble.
Second, since the Han Dynasty, this jade like stone has been used to build palaces, decorate temples, carve Buddha statues, and decorate halls. Because this building material was used since the Han Dynasty, it is called white marble.
Third, in Hotan, Xinjiang, China, there is a very good building material, which is as white as snow and pebbly. It is produced in the river bed and has crystal clear water color. It is called Shuibaiyu. Coincidentally, an excellent building material has also been found in Fangshan, Beijing, and Quyang, Hebei. It is white and moist in color, pure and delicate in texture, almost the same as water white jade. Because it is mostly produced in the mountains, it has become a "drought" white jade. Later, people misinterpreted the word "drought" of Hanbaiyu into the word "Han" of Han Dynasty, so it became today's Hanbaiyu.
Fourthly, the "Han" character of white marble should be the sweating "sweat", which represents one of the most little-known features of white marble. The real white marble is not completely white and flawless, but has shallow lines hidden in it, just like the mark of sweating.
