The only province in China without five-star hotels

China's foreign-related tourism hotels are divided into five grades, namely, one star to five stars. At present, the five-star hotel directory published by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism (as of July 2022) includes 817 hotels nationwide (excluding Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan). Among them, there are 93 warehouses in Guangdong Province, with the largest number. In the list, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is the only province without five-star hotels.

Ningxia is the only place along the ancient Silk Road. The ancient Yellow River civilization, the mysterious history of Xixia, and the magnificent desert scenery constitute the colorful tourism resources of Ningxia. "Two Mountains and One River" (Helan Mountain, Liupan Mountain, Yellow River), "Two Sands and One Mausoleum" (Shahu, Shapotou, Western Xia Mausoleum), and "Two Fortresses and One City" (Jiangtai Fort, Zhenbei Fort, and the Ancient Great Wall) reflect the profound cultural heritage and display the unique natural scenery.
